“Geraldine is an incredible thinker and futurist who is generous with her insights and perspective. Willing to have challenging conversations and really inspire teams to think differently, consider the uncomfortable and ultimately push outside their comfort zone.”
Material Design Director, Nike
“I first spotted Geraldine on an Instagram post and immediately knew we needed to collaborate. After years in forecasting positions, I realize how information is not power anymore, only clarity is. Her unique perspective on societal shifts and her ability to connect the dots is providing just that: clarity. By combining both a global vision with fact-backed precision, she’s been a great asset in orienting the message we convey to our teams and top management.”

Speaker background
“I grew up in Paris and am bi-cultural / bilingual French American. My father is an experimental filmmaker and organic farmer, and my mother an education entrepreneur and art gallery owner.
Going to movies from the time I was a toddler shaped my futures narratives approach. My father’s understanding of nature and art, as well as my mother’s passion for teaching and business also forged me. The forensic approach to research and dissecting everything I probably get from a lineage of scientists.
These legacy paths are how I rationalize my need to make sense of our world and my belief in creativity and plurality. As futurists, we tell the story of the future. Our imagination and vision of interconnectedness, even if at times random, is the key.
Growing up in Paris, I excelled in arts and literature, was terrible at maths, and eventually majored in textile design at Duperré. I knew I would not stay in France, as much as I love it.
I remember walking by our local news shop at age 8 and seeing the newspapers, thinking, ‘I won’t be reading the same newspapers my whole life.’ I knew back then I would be moving around and experiencing various cultures in my adult future.
That manifested itself when I left for New York in late 1999, equipped with my design portfolio, a full scholarship to Parsons, 400 dollars, and my dual French American citizenship. There I joined the cult streetwear brand Triple 5 Soul and started traveling the world to design, develop and manage the womenswear collection.
To this day, I have a great interest in youth culture. I also worked in Los Angeles for 6 years for global lifestyle brands as a senior designer and design director.
In between my roles, I volunteered in Tanzania, working with children and teens living with disabilities, writing grant proposals, raising funds, and developing arts projects. I was searching for meaning and tired of the incessant and extractive pace of the fashion machine.
Eventually, I joined WGSN in London in 2011 as a senior womenswear forecaster focused on macro trends. In 2013, I founded my own futuring practice, garnering a global reputation for thought-provoking forecasts and public speaking, as well as forecasting methods. I soon realized the power of education and the need for support and kinship in the foresight community. This is how the Trend Atelier was born.
These days I can be found in London journaling, attempting to communicate with birds and cats, and reading avidly every day.”
