Europe looks to geothermal energy as gas alternative
Estekaren deskribapena
Europe is making great strides to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, with the latest development being a shift toward utilizing geothermal energy as an alternative to natural gas. By 2023, Europe plans to increase its share of geothermal energy production from the current 5 percent to 20 percent. Geothermal energy, generated from the Earth's interior heat, offers numerous advantages including greater efficiency and fewer emissions than traditional sources such as gas and coal. Additionally, geothermal plants are relatively cost-effective for investors due to their long lifespans and low maintenance requirements. This shift toward renewable sources of energy not only helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also provides a sustainable source of power that will help Europe reach its climate targets in the future.
