Singapore-based automation firm SATS Ltd further estimates that over the next decade, more than 1 billion Asians will be first-time fliers, adding to the already mounting pressure on airports to accommodate this surge in passenger numbers.

The airport is currently learning from T4's automation technologies to build its Terminal 5 (T5), designed to be the country's second airport and handle 50 million passengers annually.
