Sherrod Brown, senatorul pentru Ohio și președintele Comitetului bancar al Senatului, a scris o scrisoare către președintele Biden, susținând că „în prezent nu există vehicule electrice chinezești de vânzare în Statele Unite și trebuie să o menținem așa”. El a avertizat că „VE-urile chinezești, foarte subvenționate de guvernul chinez, ar putea să decimeze producătorii noștri autohtoni, să dăuneze lucrătorilor americani și să ofere Chinei acces la date personale sensibile”, insistând că guvernul SUA trebuie să interzică cât mai curând posibil mașinile electrice produse din China, apelând este „o chestiune de securitate economică și națională”. Mișcarea vine în timp ce disputa dintre cele două superputeri economice pe tema tehnologiei continuă, SUA, săptămâna trecută, a sancționat încă patru companii chineze, susținând că au fost implicate în furnizarea de cipuri pentru accelerarea IA utilizatorilor armatei și de informații din China.
