iheartscotch: foo monkey: Is this the thread where everyone shiats on Space Force while deliberately not making an effort to understand what they do? Ok... What is it that Space Force...does? They don't go to space. The X37-B does not even have the capacity to have a human crew on board. Until we have enough space presence to have soldiers garrisoned or patrolling in space, there's not really any call for a space ranger, and even then the nature of the training will be very, VERY different. I can only expect that things like maintaining low detectability signatures and operating in extreme temperature swings while EVA would play a major role, along with keeping EVA suits and materiel functioning in terrain that's extremely hostile, such as among the fine sediments known to exist on the Moon and on Mars. A genuine Space Ranger might well have gone through a traditional Army Ranger training first if only to demonstrate that the individual has the fortitude and ability, but if it's truly necessary to have rangers in space they're going to have their own, separate training.
